Cynefin (16-02-2016)

This project of the National Library of Wales may be of interest to historians of chapels. The project aims to digitise all the tithe maps of Wales. These maps show about 95% of the land of Wales as it was in the 1840s. They can all be seen on the cynefin.wales website, including the tithe documents which list who owned the land, who paid tithes, and in most cases the names of the fields in the parish.

The project is dependent upon the contribution of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering by helping to transcribe tithe documents, the project manager will be delighted to hear from you. You can register as a volunteer on the cynefin.cymru website (click on the 'more' link below), or you can contact cynefin@llgc.org.uk or phone 01970 634 416 for more information.
